WHY IT MATTERS?
What is Carbon Footprint?
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by an individual, organization, event, or product. It measures the impact of human activities on the environment, primarily through the release of greenhouse gases.

Why it Matters?
Every choice we make—what we eat, how we travel, what we throw away—leaves a footprint. Together, these choices are shaping the future of our planet.
Climate Change
- Rising temperature resulting in warmer oceans.
- Melting Icecaps and glaciers causing flooding and sinking coastlines.
- Extreme weather and droughts killing millions and destroying nature.
Diminishing Marine Life
- 1 million of marine animals are killed due to plastic every year.
- 92% of microplastics have been found in 60% of fish that we consume.
- More than 33% of marine mammals are threatened with extinction.
Environmental Pollution
- Air pollution kills an estimated 7 million people worldwide every year.
- 2 million tons of waste is discharged into earth’s waters every day.
- Nearly 1/3 of food produced (1.3 billion tons annually) is wasted.
Wildlife Extinction
- 1 million species are at risk of extinction due to deforestation and climate change.
- Emperor penguin colonies could decline by up to 80% by 2100.
- 40% of insects species are in decline threatening collapse of nature
What can we do?
By 2050, today’s youth will be the decision-makers. The habits we form today – recycling, reducing our footprint, implementing circular economy, using technology responsibly – will determine whether our planet thrives or collapses.
Technology gives us tools: data, AI, and clean energy systems. Sustainability gives us values: respect, responsibility, balance. Together, they can build a world where progress doesn’t cost the Earth.
